I would explain it in person since honesty may be a big asset in your interview./ Mention it a the beginning of the interview.
whoa whoa whoa! where did you get that kind of attitude!
Your looking at it all wrong. If your not making any money you have prime ability to get money for school purposes!
there are so many degree programs now that are done online or through the mail for a fraction of the price and with little credentials needed to be accepted. I work full-time on a midnight to morning shift and am getting my business degree. I rent the textbooks for just 25 bucks from the school and pay just 100 dollars a month for tuition(and even if you dont have that im sure they can work with your budget) the whole program only costs $12,000 and its a fully accredited bachelor's degree. My father actually did the same program when he was my age and has done very well ever since he finished it. ALSO, this school lets you submit a resume of your real life work experiences and they will actually eliminate entire classes from you degree program if you have real world experience in it already.
it doenst say that your American, im assuming your are, im sure you can find some kind of distance learning program to get you into some kind of job field. There are lots of 6 month certificate programs that would get you a foot in the door some where im sure.
You should really look into government grants and loans for education, you will be surprised the kind of help you can get for your education. It's one of the few the things the government does right.
do some research on school loans and grants, the poorer and less fortunate you are, the more people there are out there who will help you, i gaurantee it!
one really good job search site is indeed.com CHECK IT OUT!!!
proble would
Don't go .Terrorist are in poor countries. Get a loan go to school get a great job here!
Most large corporations have tuition reimbursement programs. However, they're not all created alike and sometimes your degree must be in your work field. To make it easier to find such a company (since you can't ask upfront), look for work in your chosen field and look at larger employers who appear to have full benefit programs.
I had this problem before. And I'd start with your resume first. Believe it or not that is the very reason you don't get nibbles on jobs. I thought my resume was awesome and I was wrong. I looked up tips on resume writing used some templates from http://www.microsoftoffice.com to make them look nice, got the resume paper and the thank you notes and as soon as I fixed it, I got TONS of interviews and I noticed it made all the difference in the world. Give that a shot first and then after that or if you've already done that I'd go to temp companies(not to necessarily work for them) but to let them give you feedback, whatever they'll tell you will be what the jobs you are applying too will think. Also, I would do some research of your career field on the net( check out http://www.indeed.com) it is the best job site ever! It compiles all the job sites into one place and see how many jobs are really out there for you in your area. I really think these will help. Good luck with your job search and I hope you find something really soon!
Well, knowing what you don't want is very important, and a good starting point. But, you need to try to figure out what you DO want because otherwise you're going to have an unfocused search.
To help you figure out what you do want to do and assuming that you live in the U.S., check out your state's Career One Stop Centers. That's actually their job, and they do it for free or at a very low cost. Here's a link where you can get online help and also find more information about your state's offices – http://www.careeronestop.org/
You may also get assistance from your college's Career Center. Most of them now offer career assistance to alums who've been out of school for a while (even for decades) because it is in their best interest to do that. So contact them, and see if they have any testing and/or counselling available for you to use at low cost.
A perennial source of good advice on figuring out what you want to do is Richard Bolles' classic book "What Color Is Your Parachute." He updates it every year, and the 2007 edition is out now. Or, you can borrow it from your library – if your library's career section has only one book in it, it will be an edition of this book. It's a classic because it is SO helpful.
The key advantage those of us over 50 have is our large network of friends and colleagues that younger workers don't have. Here's an article about leveraging that network – http://www.job-hunt.org/onlinejobsearchguide/article_jobsearch_over_50.shtml
My favorite Website to help with job search is Job-Hunt.org. http://www.job-hunt.org
Job-Hunt will help you identify possible employers and also job search networking and support groups to help you with your networking.
Job-Hunt has over 8,300 links to employers and job search resources on Job-Hunt, including over 6,300 job sites and employers by state – online classifieds from local newspapers as well as links to the various Craigslist sites, state and local government jobs, colleges and universities, all the state Employment Offices (where you register for unemployment compensation), and many, MANY other employers.
Be sure to check out the job search networking sites where you can make connections with employers and other job seekers, usually for free or very low cost.
The Fortune 500 companies are also organized by state, and there are many other carefully-selected resources to choose from on Job-Hunt.
Good luck with your job search! Go for it!
I would say try it. If he really needs the job it might be worth it to you.
A good "out of the box" way for your friend to earn money would be to either freelance or get a job with a company that teaches business writing through seminars for professional.
If he is well-spoken and somewhat dynamic, he could probably even start his own business consulting companies on;
public speaking
business writing
business communication
There is a high demand for this type of training- basically teaching people why its innapropriate to use LOL in a business email
